Benefits of a Collaborative
A collaborative learning network is a system that brings together various stakeholders within a healthcare ecosystem, all working towards a common goal. These stakeholders include clinicians in all roles, researchers, patients, and families from heart centers within North America to share data, learnings and best practices to improve health outcomes for patients. The founding principle that connects everyone together is “All Teach, All Learn”, we are committed to learning from each other and sharing those learnings across the network.
PAC³ partners with existing networks in pediatric cardiology with a goal to develop more efficient capture and sharing of clinical data, as well as generate efficiencies that provide value at the hospital-level. As part of this effort, PAC³ is a founding member of Cardiac Networks United, a group of collaboratives in the field of cardiology whose aim is to address the high costs of collaboratives and to share data, resources, and knowledge.
The Pediatric Acute Care Cardiology Collaborative works to:
- Support the network centers to achieve goals
- Organize and present conference calls and provide annual in-person conferences
- Provide evidence-based information on inpatient acute cardiac care
- Provide tools to help with implementation of process changes
- Coordinate communication across all centers to provide participants with analyses regarding the effectiveness of changes and work of their colleagues
- Provide secure HIPAA-compliant data management, including electronic data entry, storage, and analysis
- Partner with existing networks in pediatric cardiology with a goal to develop more efficient capture and sharing of clinical data, as well as generate efficiencies that provide value at the hospital-level
- Facilitate comparative effectiveness research across centers and the network
- Work with the care centers to create equitable access to the data to advance knowledge
Our Impact (ROI)
- Only national collaborative and registry with focus on pediatric acute care cardiology
- Benchmarking
- Integration with other cardiac registries including STS and PC4 to get the full patient picture
- Improved patient outcomes through local clinical improvement work
- Participation in national quality improvement and research projects
- Quality Improvement and Clinical Education
- Clinical Practice Guidelines
- Opportunities for professional and career growth for participants through mentoring, collaboration, and networking
- Patient and Family Engagement/Support
- Point on U.S. News and World Report
“Our collaboration with clinical data registries and their reporting platforms allow us to benchmark with other centers in near-real-time. Our center relies heavily on the PC4 and PAC3 reporting platform to track and trend data, and to identify opportunities for improvement. The ease-of-use, especially visualizing the data in run charts and bar charts is extremely valuable.” – PAC3 Member Center
Key Driver Diagram
PAC³ Learning Network utilizes many tools to help guide its work efforts and projects. The below Key Driver Diagram shows the various on-going work efforts of each of the Committees. This work unifies our members towards improving PAC³‘s Global Aim to build a mature learning health system that equitably improves acute care cardiology.
