Sonali Patel, MD, PhD joined the Heart Institute at Children’s Hospital Colorado in August 2013. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa and her medical degree at the University of Iowa, College of Medicine. She completed her residency in general pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Patel also received a doctoral degree in Epidemiology from the University of Iowa in 2010.

She is the Co-Director of Preventive Cardiology and the Director of the Hypertension Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Her clinical interests include preventive cardiology, general cardiology, and acute care cardiology. Her research interests include the epidemiology of blood pressure and cholesterol disorders and their role in development of adult cardiovascular disease and quality improvement in acute care inpatient pediatric cardiology. An additional area of significant interest includes education; she is also the Director of the Pediatric Cardiology Fellow Training Program at the University of Colorado.
